Media study 2023

News agency De Limburger is mentioned most often in the top 3 most up-to-date and reliable sources in 2023, followed by L1 and RTV Maastricht. The media-mix of Team Communication reaches 66% of Maastricht inhabitants monthly. These insights, and many more, can be read in the report of the Media study 2023.

How many inhabitants of Maastricht are active on Instagram? Who watches TV Maastricht? What is the reach of the municipality of Maastricht?

The Municipality of Maastricht regularly studies the media use of inhabitants. This information is used to adjust messaging to the channels that are most used by inhabitants.

Because the media landscape changes constantly, the municipality conducts a study on the media use of inhabitants every year. The Media study is a co-production of the teams Communication and Datadriven Management.

Research questions

The Media study aims to answer the following questions:

  1. Which media do the inhabitants use?
  2. With what frequency do inhabitants usethis media?
  3. How has the use of media developed over the past years?
  4. What do users see as the most important sources for news about Maastricht?
  5. What is the reach of the current media-mix?
  6. What do the user profiles of the different media look like?

Results

Between November 10th and December 3rd the Media study 2023 was conducted. 1,113 inhabitants have filled out an online or paper questionnaire. The study results are available as report in pdf-format (the report is written in Dutch).
