Background
More cities and city-centres are becoming car-free in the Netherlands. The council of the municipality of Maastricht has decided to hold a car-free pilot in Wyck. The pilot will point out whether there are suitable measures to make Wyck car-free, or reduce the number of cars in Wyck, in the future
To help form the pilot, inhabitants and entrepeneurs of Wyck were asked their opinions in a previous study. To gain insight into the visitors of Wyck, Team Datadriven Management has been asked to conduct a study among Maastricht inhabitants who visit Wyck.
Research questions
The study aims at answering the following research questions:
- How do Maastricht inhabitants visit Wyck?
- How do visitors think their visit will change when Wyck becomes car-free?
Results
In February of 2024 invitations to participate in an online questionnaire were sent to 2,281 randomly selected members of the Maastricht Forum inhabitants' panel. The questionnaire was filled out by 764 people.
The results of this study are available as a written report in pdf-format (the report is written in Dutch).
